Meridian Telephone User's Guide
Meridian digital telephones provide easy access to the features available
from the PBX installed at the WRC. These telephones are identified
by the Northern Telecom logo under the handset and on the back of the phone.
If you are using a Meridian phone, this user guide will help you use
its various features.

Auto Dial:
- To use a stored number
- Select a free extension.
- Press Auto Dial. The stored number is dialed automatically.
- To store the Auto Dial number:
- Leave handset on-hook (no dial tone) and press AutoDial.
- Dial the number. Be sure to dial 9 if this is an off site call.
- Press Auto Dial again.

Call Park: To park an answered call use the Park key:
- Press Park twice. The call is parked on your extension.
- To retrieve a parked call:
- Select a free extension.
- Dial 172 plus the extension where the call is parked.

Call Pickup:

To answer a call on another phone in your Call Pickup Group:

Lift the handset to your phone.

Press Call Pickup or dial 13.

To answer a call in another Call Pickup Group:

Lift the handset, press Directed Call Pickup, or dial 194.

Dial the pickup group number.

A third type of Call Pickup allows you to answer calls for a specific extension
(or DN). To answer a DN Pickup Call:

Lift the handset and press DN Pickup or dial 195.

Dial the extension number.

Conference:
-
While on a call, press Conference. The other party is on Hold
and you receive dial tone.

dial the number of a third party to add. When the call is answered,
you may talk privately with the third party.

Press Conference again to include all parties.
- Repeat to add up to six participants to the conference.
- Note: If you wish to cancel an incomplete conference
or if you make a mistake while dialing, press the key beside the fast flashing
indicator to return to the call.

Forward: To forward your calls:

Press Forward. LCD arrow flashes.

Dial the number to forward calls to.

Press Forward again. LCD arrow is on.

Press Forward. LCD arrow is off.

Last Number Redial: To redial the last number:

Lift the handset.

Press the DN key (your extension number) twice. The last number is
automatically redialed.

Privacy Release: To allow someone who shares your extension
to join a call:

Press Priv Rls. The person can now join in by pressing the flashing
extension key.

Speed Call:
- Select a free extension.
- Press Speed Call.
- Dial the speed call code.
- To store a Speed Call number:
- With the handset on hook, press Speed Call.
- Enter a one, two or three digit code to represent the number.
- Dial the phone number.
- Press Speed Call again.
- To change a number, dial a new number in step three. To erase one, dial * in step three.
- System Speed Call:
- Lift the handset and select a free extension.
- Press Sys Speed or dial 173.
- Dial the speed call code.
- To store a System Speed Call number (for system Speed Call Controllers only):
- Without lifting the handset, press Sys Speed.
- Dial a one, two or three digit code to represent the number.
- Dial the phone number.
- Press Sys Speed again.
- To change a number, dial a new number in step six. To erase one, dial
* in step six.

Transfer: To transfer an answered call:

Press Transfer. The other party is on Hold and you hear dial
tone.

Dial the number you want to transfer the call to.

Press Transfer again, either when you hear ringing, or after you talk
privately to the person you are transferring the call to.
- Note: If you wish to cancel an incomplete transfer or
if you make a mistake while dialing, press the key beside the fast flashing
indicator to return to the call.

Volume control: Adjust the volume on your phone using the volume
control key. Raise the volume by tapping the right side, lower
the volume by tapping the left side. You can adjust the volume
of the handset, headset, or Handsfree. You can adjust the ringing volume
while the phone is ringing.
