New Identification Requirements for Access to WRC

 

Public Notice
To All Visitors and Public Users
Of the NOAA Western Regional Center

 

The Real ID Act of 2005 (Public Law 109-13) mandates new requirements for State issued driver's licenses and identification cards.

Access to the NOAA Western Regional Center requires one of the following forms of identification:

Individuals wishing to have continued access to the NOAA Western Regional Center should ensure they have one of the above listed acceptable forms of personal identification.

 

Extension States/Territories

The following states/territories have an extension through October 10, 2017, allowing Federal agencies to accept driver's licenses and identification cards from these states/territories:

  • Am.Samoa
  • California
  • Guam
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Louisiana
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • N. Marianas
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • N. Carolina
  • N. Dakota
  • Puerto Rico
  • Rhode Island
  • Texas
  • Virgin Islands

Limited Extension States/Territories

The following states/territories have a limited extension through June 6, 2017, allowing Federal agencies to accept driver's licenses and identification cards from these states/territories:

  • Alaska
  • Kentucky
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • S. Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Washington

Noncompliant States/Territories

Federal agencies and nuclear power plants may NOT accept for official purposes driver’s licenses and state IDs from these states:

  • Maine
  • Minnesota+
  • Missouri
  • Montana

+ Federal officials may continue to accept Enhanced Driver's Licenses from these states.
